Jewellery in a Time of Rearmament

We live in troubled times, and in this presentation, Jorunn Veiteberg will highlight jewellery that has conflict and war either as a theme or a background. Even jewellery that is both inconspicuous in format and made of anything but precious materials can still function as a critical comment on important social issues.

Jorunn Veiteberg is a Norwegian-Danish art historian, writer and curator. She has worked as a curator at Hordaland Art Centre in Bergen and Galleri F15 in Moss; been head of arts in Norwegian Broadcasting/Television; adjunct professor in craft theory at Bergen Academy of Art and Design and Oslo Academy of Art and Design; and guest professor at School of Design and Crafts at Gothenburg University.

She was editor-in-chief of the Norwegian arts and craft magazine Kunsthandverk 1998–2007 and has written and contributed to many books on art and artists. Contemporary jewellery art is a special field of interest to her, and she has published a book about her own collection of jewellery: The Jewellery Box (Arnoldsche 2020).
